About Us

Medusa brings spunk, grit, and heart to a cappella — without any men. The group is dedicated to challenging gender conventions with an extensive rep of bold and empowering music from all genres, covering everyone from Young the Giant, BØRNS, and Hozier to Janelle Monáe, Gin Wigmore, Lana del Rey. Medusa’s covers have been featured on various national compilation albums, and their more recent solo album, Medusa Complex, was met with critical acclaim. Despite winning four CARA awards and a RARB track of the year, Medusa isn’t one to rest on its laurels — they recently released a cover of Coldplay and Beyoncé’s Hymn for the Weekend, available now on iTunes and Spotify.

Our Name Change: From Men in Drag to Medusa

While we care deeply about our group’s history, we thought it was time for a new name that expresses both the inclusivity and the complexities of our identity as a group. The Gorgon Medusa, from Greek mythology, is powerful, monstrous, enraged, resilient, and an icon of modern feminism. The members of Men in Drag feel that she is fiercely representative of who we are and who we have become as a group. We are eager to continue performing and recording music that uplifts and empowers, now with a new name that reflects our ambitions.
